At H&A Protection Services we support equality and actively recruit a diverse workforce. This article will focus on our efforts to support our staff who suffer with any form of disability and ensure they are treated respectfully and fairly, like all our workforce. We believe everybody has the ability to succeed in the Security industry and at H&A.
A disability is anything that stops you being able to do day-to-day activities, and can include problems with sight, hearing, speech, memory or getting around. Currently 13.3 million people in the UK have a disability, and vast numbers of people have what are known as ‘hidden disabilities’ including sensory disabilities, a range of mental health conditions, epilepsy, diabetes, chronic fatigue syndrome, cystic fibrosis – to mention just a few.
Some disabilities – particularly dyslexia and other learning disabilities – may affect how you learn. If you know that you have a learning disability, it is important to discuss the challenges you face confidentially with your line manager. We ensure all our staff are supported in their role whether they be a manager, dog handler or front-line staff.
We have recently committed to the Disability Confident Scheme which ensures our recruitment process is inclusive and accessible as well as enabling our current workforce to continue to stay in employment. Previously we highlighted in one of our managerial meetings that we were previously based on a First-Floor office that had no accessibility for our mobility disabled staff. We have since moved offices and relocated to a ground floor premise that is fully accessible to all. Additionally, our Managers are on-hand when potential employees are filling out their recruitment forms to ensure anybody struggling with dyslexia and other learning disabilities, fully understand the role, contract and any other administration forms they need to fill in.
We have members of our team with such conditions as Learning difficulties, Respiratory diseases, and physical disabilities. Many of our workforce have previously suffered mental health issues however due to our continued support they have overcome such problems. We actively recruit service personnel who may have suffered from PTSD however are now thriving with a healthy work-life balance.
H&A Protection Services are committed to breaking down the barriers in the security industry to ensure equality for all. If you would like to find out more information, contact our Office Team on 0800689352.
